Hey again

Hi everyone,

Not a lot to say this email. It's really weird to think that I only emailed you guys five days ago, it feels like it's been a lot longer. It's so crazy the way time works in the mission field. We were talking about it a little bit, and we noticed that whenever we're super busy, when we look back it seems like it took a lot more time. Like when we were in the parade, the days seemed to last longer than days in our first transfer. Speaking of, I don't think I sent the pictures of that. I'll have to do it when we get back to our apartment, we have all of them there.

Also, we'll be heading down to Halifax this week for the French temple trip! We're all pretty excited, it should be a lot of fun. We are doing a devotional after it, and I'm supposed to play a musical number in it, I was able to get this arrangement of O Come O Come Emmanuel that I am hoping I can learn before Saturday. If not I'll probably play Consider the Lillies, but it would be really nice to have some Christmas music for it! Just hoping I can get it playable by then...

Hmmm. Definitely harder to write when I don't have questions to answer. I'll send this one first, I still have plenty of time to reply to emails, so we can chat a bit. If not I'll try to write a little bit more about my week or something.

[From his 2nd email, after reading our email]:

Questions:
  • Tell us more about the other missionaries you serve with...how often do you see them, what have you learned from them, anyone you can see yourself being friends with after the mish?
  • Tell us more about your investigators and what you are teaching them...we loved what you said about Ann last week...it is easy for us to take that knowledge for granted.
  • Tell us more about your daily/weekly routines and schedule...do you have strict mission rules about what time to leave and come home? Do you eat lunch and dinner at your apartment? What is a typical day like?
  • What should we all be thankful for that we take for granted?
  • Are you staying warm?
  • Do you know details for video conferencing on Christmas yet? Skype, FaceTime, or what? And what time?
Answers:
The other elders I spend the most time with are Elder Boardman and Elder Smith. They are the other two elders in Edmundston, and they are awesome! Elder Boardman lived in Holladay too, he went to Cottonwood, he was two years ahead of me. It's pretty cool to be able to talk about places, and have someone understand where it is. He's awesome, we get along really well, and like a lot of the same stuff. Elder Smith is from Farmington, and he is the funniest person I've ever met. He's by far one of my favorite people. They're both awesome! I feel like I've learned a lot from both of them, but don't have a ton of time left to talk about it. I'll tell you about my schedule next time. I don't know any details yet. Sorry about that. I do have some pictures though of the parade.

Also, thanks for taking care of Nessie. Hope everything keeps going good.

Love you all!

Elder Marsh

Got my travel plans!

Bonjour tout le monde!        This has been a crazy week! We've been super busy with lessons, we have had two or three lessons a day, and lots of really good devotionals.  On Sunday , we had Chad Lewis come and talk, and that was really cool. He talked about his mission, his career, his chance to do this hike up Kilimanjaro with a bunch of wounded soldiers from Iraq, kinda all over the place. It was more like a slide show than the kind of devotionals before. It was still good, but I definitely preferred Elder Oaks. We watched A Consecrated Missionary, by Tad Callister, for our film after, it was really good. I really love the  Sunday  films, gunna miss that in the field.         I also finally meet some other people going to Halifax! There are 4 sisters, and one other Elder, I'll be flying out with them on the 26th. I'm pretty sure I get to call you guys before I leave the airport on my flight, but I think they talk about t...

First few days!

First few days are down, and it's going good! When I got here I went straight to a lesson in French, and six hours of lessons later I'm supposed to teach a lesson in complete French to an investigator, write a talk in French, and memorize the missionary purpose statement.  Our zone has about 60 missionaries, most speaking French, going to Lyon, France, but some to Paris as well. There are a lot of Haitian Creole speaking missionaries, and some Malagasy speaking missionaries as well. Two are going to New Caledonia (discussed below). I'm the only one going to Canada, let alone going to Halifax.         My companion is Elder Hable (like table but with an H) and he's really good. He's going to New Caledonia, which is by Australia. He took French for 6 years, and he's by far the best of our district so far. He likes baseball, favorite team is the Red Sox, so that's a plus, (Raelene) and is really kind to everyone. He got made the District leader last night, s...

Transfers!

Hey all, Happy Father's day! Hope you had a good one dad + grandpa's. I didn't know if you would've wanted to waste part of your trip to DC calling me, so I didn't try calling. Besides, I want you all to actually be glad I'm home when I get back.  So you're right, my p-day does get messed up because of transfers, but the majority of it was on Monday (not Tuesday) and the rest today (Wednesday). It's ok though because I do have enough time to write some. (This whole week has been so busy I don't even know if I could include everything that's gone down.) We'll start with zone conference. Elder Hamilton didn't have enough time in his schedule to go to Newfoundland, and so we combined the Newfoundland and Nova Scotia zone conference. It was really good, Elder and Sister Hamilton gave some fantastic training, as well as President and Sister Low. I don't know if I've told you about this, but in our zone conferences we normal...
