Happy Birthday mom!

Hey everyone,

Happy Birthday Mom! It has been pretty crazy that so far every single birthday has been on my p-day. What a miracle is that. Hope you enjoy some Olympics for me. I saw just a sneak peak of the opening ceremonies at a members house, it looked like some kinda tiger thing. Kinda jealous of Peter, because right now he's helping out at the Olympics, which would be super cool.

Ward party sounds like it was a blast. I guess I don't get the "tradition" behind the "fiddler on the roof" thing, but it sounds pretty funny. The following Sacrament meeting sounds like it was really cool too, Elder Owens is pretty cool.

Man, I miss basketball. Is it possible to get any updates on games and scores? Sometimes I feel like a lone Utah man surrounded by the lone and dreary updates of BYU fans. Haha, I actually enjoy their updates, but I'm missing the true light. But it sounds like Boo's having fun. What happened to Ben being Samantha's boyfriend? And how was Jumanjii? I've heard from some people it was awesome, and others have told me it wasn't very good.

It's kinda hard to say what part of my testimony has been strengthened the most as a missionary, because it kinda bleeds over. Truth brings more truth, you receive light for light, so it's always growing. I'd say that the MOST important thing I've learned is about the Doctrine of Christ. I feel that before my mission, I would have a hard time telling you simply what the Doctrine of Christ was, but by learning and understanding and living the Doctrine of Christ, you really start recognizing it everywhere in your life. By living the principles of Faith, Repentance, being baptized (and keeping covenants), receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, you really are living the Plan of Salvation.

There have been a couple struggles of my mission. Learning French. Learning how to be more creative with food. I miss movies. I miss you guys. But It's not been anything too crazy, or anything that I haven't been able to strengthen. Thinking of Ether 12: 27 or so, we can strengthen our weaknesses. We can grow and change. It's been a huge blessing already in my life. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Well, I have to fess up, I didn't take a photo. I will next week. I'll have my smart phone, so it should get pretty easy. But I love you guys!

Got my travel plans!

Bonjour tout le monde!        This has been a crazy week! We've been super busy with lessons, we have had two or three lessons a day, and lots of really good devotionals.  On Sunday , we had Chad Lewis come and talk, and that was really cool. He talked about his mission, his career, his chance to do this hike up Kilimanjaro with a bunch of wounded soldiers from Iraq, kinda all over the place. It was more like a slide show than the kind of devotionals before. It was still good, but I definitely preferred Elder Oaks. We watched A Consecrated Missionary, by Tad Callister, for our film after, it was really good. I really love the  Sunday  films, gunna miss that in the field.         I also finally meet some other people going to Halifax! There are 4 sisters, and one other Elder, I'll be flying out with them on the 26th. I'm pretty sure I get to call you guys before I leave the airport on my flight, but I think they talk about t...

First few days!

First few days are down, and it's going good! When I got here I went straight to a lesson in French, and six hours of lessons later I'm supposed to teach a lesson in complete French to an investigator, write a talk in French, and memorize the missionary purpose statement.  Our zone has about 60 missionaries, most speaking French, going to Lyon, France, but some to Paris as well. There are a lot of Haitian Creole speaking missionaries, and some Malagasy speaking missionaries as well. Two are going to New Caledonia (discussed below). I'm the only one going to Canada, let alone going to Halifax.         My companion is Elder Hable (like table but with an H) and he's really good. He's going to New Caledonia, which is by Australia. He took French for 6 years, and he's by far the best of our district so far. He likes baseball, favorite team is the Red Sox, so that's a plus, (Raelene) and is really kind to everyone. He got made the District leader last night, s...

Transfers!

Hey all, Happy Father's day! Hope you had a good one dad + grandpa's. I didn't know if you would've wanted to waste part of your trip to DC calling me, so I didn't try calling. Besides, I want you all to actually be glad I'm home when I get back.  So you're right, my p-day does get messed up because of transfers, but the majority of it was on Monday (not Tuesday) and the rest today (Wednesday). It's ok though because I do have enough time to write some. (This whole week has been so busy I don't even know if I could include everything that's gone down.) We'll start with zone conference. Elder Hamilton didn't have enough time in his schedule to go to Newfoundland, and so we combined the Newfoundland and Nova Scotia zone conference. It was really good, Elder and Sister Hamilton gave some fantastic training, as well as President and Sister Low. I don't know if I've told you about this, but in our zone conferences we normal...
