Bye Bye Bathurst :(

Hey everyone!

Man, sounds busy back home! You had a pretty crazy Sunday. This week was busy for us too, (today is too, haha) but I'm glad to hear it was good. The dinner you had sounds like it was super fun though!

Anyway, like I said in my title, I'm getting transferred. I'm going to be going to Dieppe and serving with Elder Smith, which I'm super excited about! I love Elder Smith so much, he's awesome! This next transfer is going to be BUSY though. Because a lot of missionaries are going home, they are shutting down a bunch of areas, and they combined my district (Bathurst) with the Amhurst district (Miles' district). So my little district went from having potentially 4 - 6 missionaries to having 14. So it's going to be a little crazy. My district is now the biggest one in the mission.

I'll try to send a calendar for the next transfer when we get one, because I don't know how it's going to turn out yet. I know there's going to be a few changes from normal. But you can probably plan on hearing from me next Tuesday.

Bathurst was very big! We had everything from Campbelltown, all the way down the Acadien penisula. It would take us 4 hours for us to drive from one side of it to the other. (If we start the timer on the one side. It would take us at least an hour for us to drive to it!) We mostly stay in Bathurst, haha. It's by far the biggest part of our area, and where most of the members are. We also have been working up in Cambelltown, and we've been having a lot of success there, but again, takes an hour to drive there, so we only go out 2 times a week. We walk whenever we can. But for the most part, we have to drive. We're a 10 minute drive from Bathurst, so if we want to go there for an appointment, we normally drive.

I didn't get to see the WW devotional! I heard it was really good though! I saw the article about it on lds.org, and my companion and I were pretty impressed. The prophet has given us very specific actions for us to do, kinda like Moses did for the children of Israel, when he made the brass serpent. If they looked they lived. If they didn't, they died. I think it goes along very well with President Nelson's conference address, if we don't learn to receive revelation, we will die spiritually. Sooo, listen to the prophet!!

Because our week was pretty jam packed, I'll just share one of the cool stories from this week. We went and taught this really nice lady named Betty, who lives on the native reserve. Apparently the Native reserves in Canada are super sketchy, but I didn't get that vibe. So anyway, we finish our lesson, and Elder Pierson wants to book it out of the reserve, but there's this street sign that says, "Marsh Rd," and I wanted a picture. We had Alexandre in the car too, and he convinced Elder Pierson to turn around and let us take the photo. So I get my photo, and as we start heading back to the car, a truck pulls up and this lady leans out the window and asks us why we were on her road. We explained I wanted a picture because of my name, and she started asking us all kinds of questions. When she found out we were talking with Betty, she thought that was the coolest thing, and started asking us all about the Gospel. We gave her a Book of Mormon, and she said she would read it, and the elders are going to be going back to teach Judy (this lady) again! God definitely put her in our path!!!

One more thing, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA CLAYTON! I love you lots! Wish I could be there to say it in person. :)

Love you all! Hope you have a great week!

Got my travel plans!

Bonjour tout le monde!        This has been a crazy week! We've been super busy with lessons, we have had two or three lessons a day, and lots of really good devotionals.  On Sunday , we had Chad Lewis come and talk, and that was really cool. He talked about his mission, his career, his chance to do this hike up Kilimanjaro with a bunch of wounded soldiers from Iraq, kinda all over the place. It was more like a slide show than the kind of devotionals before. It was still good, but I definitely preferred Elder Oaks. We watched A Consecrated Missionary, by Tad Callister, for our film after, it was really good. I really love the  Sunday  films, gunna miss that in the field.         I also finally meet some other people going to Halifax! There are 4 sisters, and one other Elder, I'll be flying out with them on the 26th. I'm pretty sure I get to call you guys before I leave the airport on my flight, but I think they talk about t...

First few days!

First few days are down, and it's going good! When I got here I went straight to a lesson in French, and six hours of lessons later I'm supposed to teach a lesson in complete French to an investigator, write a talk in French, and memorize the missionary purpose statement.  Our zone has about 60 missionaries, most speaking French, going to Lyon, France, but some to Paris as well. There are a lot of Haitian Creole speaking missionaries, and some Malagasy speaking missionaries as well. Two are going to New Caledonia (discussed below). I'm the only one going to Canada, let alone going to Halifax.         My companion is Elder Hable (like table but with an H) and he's really good. He's going to New Caledonia, which is by Australia. He took French for 6 years, and he's by far the best of our district so far. He likes baseball, favorite team is the Red Sox, so that's a plus, (Raelene) and is really kind to everyone. He got made the District leader last night, s...

Another week!

Hey, So like I said, I'm in Fredericton now. It's a good sized ward for New Brunswick, but I got a reminder on Sunday how that's still quite a bit smaller than wards around the world. This woman was visiting from Alberta, and bore her testimony in fast and testimony meeting, and she started out saying how she was grateful for the "branch" and its testimonies. Most of the members are pretty cool. There's the most young families I've ever seen here. A lot of the members are very funny too! We just got a new ward mission leader, he's from the Phillipines, and he's super awesome. He's been doing a lot of work to increase the members desire and expectation to share the gospel. I really hope I can see a lot of that growth change the ward. We only have one investigator right now, Jacob, an 11 year old son of a less active, who we're working with to reactivate. He's pretty excited about it, but he didn't come to church this Sund...
