Highland Games Festival

Hey all!

Happy Fathers Day dad!!! Hope you had a good Sunday, sorry you have to wait till Christmas to hear me again. Although, that might be the best gift you could ask for. Far, far away, not asking for money, not eating your food, not driving your car, etc...

Sorry to hear you suffered this week mom! You need to take care of yourself!!! Despite you having a rough time, we had a really good, busy week. Also, I didn't even know that there was an Ocean's 8. Shows you how much you miss on a mission, haha!

Probably the highlight of the week was the Highland Games Festival. On Saturday we had a booth pretty much all day for family history. A senior couple serving in Saint Stephan came up and helped us out with it, the De Vaneys. There were a lot of people who were there, it was pretty cool! There was one lady in particular who was pretty cool. She came up to me, and said, "Aww, just the people I was looking for!" (Did a double take over that one, I've never heard someone come to me and say that before!) This lady came all the way from Halifax for the Games. She was looking for information about her Great Grandmother, she had no information about her. I was able to log her into Familysearch, and there was 3 records ready to go, including the birth record, which is what she was looking for! She said that it was such a miracle for her, she wants to learn more, and we gave the Halifax Elders information, and said she would talk to them more. It really was super cool to actually see something like that happen! There were a couple others who were interested, but no big miracles like that!

Of course, I knew if I went to that and didn't take photos, I'd be crucified in the airport when I got back, so I got a bunch. I also got some videos of all the piping bands playing together, which was pretty cool. It doesn't have anything on the tattoo, but it's about the best you'll see in Canada!

We did a lot of finding this week, which was pretty fun. Some good ole' knocking. We've been doing a lot of digital finding too, which is really fun, and pretty successful! We also taught Eli and Philippe, they're both from Africa (There are a lot of people from Africa here for work or school) and I taught Marceline with Elder Sawa-Sawa. It was pretty good! Don't have much more time, so I'll try to send pictures.

Love you all!

Got my travel plans!

Bonjour tout le monde!        This has been a crazy week! We've been super busy with lessons, we have had two or three lessons a day, and lots of really good devotionals.  On Sunday , we had Chad Lewis come and talk, and that was really cool. He talked about his mission, his career, his chance to do this hike up Kilimanjaro with a bunch of wounded soldiers from Iraq, kinda all over the place. It was more like a slide show than the kind of devotionals before. It was still good, but I definitely preferred Elder Oaks. We watched A Consecrated Missionary, by Tad Callister, for our film after, it was really good. I really love the  Sunday  films, gunna miss that in the field.         I also finally meet some other people going to Halifax! There are 4 sisters, and one other Elder, I'll be flying out with them on the 26th. I'm pretty sure I get to call you guys before I leave the airport on my flight, but I think they talk about t...

First few days!

First few days are down, and it's going good! When I got here I went straight to a lesson in French, and six hours of lessons later I'm supposed to teach a lesson in complete French to an investigator, write a talk in French, and memorize the missionary purpose statement.  Our zone has about 60 missionaries, most speaking French, going to Lyon, France, but some to Paris as well. There are a lot of Haitian Creole speaking missionaries, and some Malagasy speaking missionaries as well. Two are going to New Caledonia (discussed below). I'm the only one going to Canada, let alone going to Halifax.         My companion is Elder Hable (like table but with an H) and he's really good. He's going to New Caledonia, which is by Australia. He took French for 6 years, and he's by far the best of our district so far. He likes baseball, favorite team is the Red Sox, so that's a plus, (Raelene) and is really kind to everyone. He got made the District leader last night, s...

Transfers!

Hey all, Happy Father's day! Hope you had a good one dad + grandpa's. I didn't know if you would've wanted to waste part of your trip to DC calling me, so I didn't try calling. Besides, I want you all to actually be glad I'm home when I get back.  So you're right, my p-day does get messed up because of transfers, but the majority of it was on Monday (not Tuesday) and the rest today (Wednesday). It's ok though because I do have enough time to write some. (This whole week has been so busy I don't even know if I could include everything that's gone down.) We'll start with zone conference. Elder Hamilton didn't have enough time in his schedule to go to Newfoundland, and so we combined the Newfoundland and Nova Scotia zone conference. It was really good, Elder and Sister Hamilton gave some fantastic training, as well as President and Sister Low. I don't know if I've told you about this, but in our zone conferences we normal...
