Good week

Hey all,

I sent my photos first, I took a hint from you and made sure to send those.

You aren't kidding, you had a busy week! I'm a little jealous of Boo getting to go to JO's, that sounds like a lot of fun. And of course I knew all those players, I played with them, lol. Missing out on the World Cup, I wish I could watch all these games. Thanks for the updates dad, I did get them. For the books, I don't think I'd really reccomend them. I did read them, but I don't really remember them. Maybe they're good, but they sure didn't stand out. I'd love to hear updates about England, tell me all about it. Buckingham Palace and Parliament sound like they're going to be awesome! If you're there, and you happen to come across a John Ablett at church or something, make sure to say hello. He is a missionary here, and he's super awesome. He goes home this next transfer, so you might run into him.

We had a pretty good week! We had our exchange with Amherst. That's Elder DeBry and Elder Calvert, so it was a lot of fun to be with Miles again. He brought his polo ball, and it was so good just to hold a wp ball again, we threw it back and forth, did some passing. Shawn would have been proud.

My meeting with President and Sister Low was really cool. They are super awesome, we had some good interviews with them, and we had a testimony meeting with them after. It was really cool. They spoke in church on Sunday too, with was really good! Speaking of Sunday, we had a really good session of church. Magen didn't come, which was too bad, but the Moncton Elders had 4 people to church! It was really awesome! We sat with one of them, Deji. We were with the Moncton Elders when we found him, we were walking into our apartment last week after church, and we met him. He lives two floors up, and the Moncton Elders started teaching him. He's been loving the Gospel, and he absolutely loved church! In addition to Deji, another person the Elders are teaching came, his name is Farhan, and he brought two ladies with him to church! One was a Catholic Evangelist, and wasn't too happy, but the other took a Book of Mormon to start reading!

Who would I stay friends with? Most of them, there's a lot of really awesome people! Most of them are going to BYU, so we'll definitely see each other again. Probably the ones I'm closest with are Elder Smith, Boardman and Carlson. The weird thing is that the majority of these missionaries are probably going to be married by the time I even finish my mission, because so many of them are going home.

There's not a lot of French missionaries, only 9. There is Elder Sawa Sawa, Elder Boardman, Elder Carlson, Elder Olmsted, Elder Smith, Elder Pierson, Elder Surette, Elder Holmen, and me. Elder Holmen was an English missionary who got changed to French. And there are only three French areas, Edmundston, Bathurst, and Dieppe.

I've kinda already told you everything about Magen. (Yeah, that's how she spells it, it actually would make sense to a Canadian, because of how weird they say their A's.) We taught her the law of chastity, so we're making sure she has been keeping it...if she doesn't we're going to stop teaching her.

Still liking the city and bigger ward.

There's lots of members, so I don't know exactly what to say about them. They're all really cool, Brother Secord and Brother Parker are both super awesome, they're the ward mission leaders.

There's plenty to do and see, but we only get one sight seeing p-day a transfer, and so we spent the last two at Brother Williams, cooking and playing Settlers of Canaan, a spin off of Catan. It's a lot of fun, the pieces don't move around though, and so you get different strats competing.

Love you all!

Elder Marsh

Got my travel plans!

Bonjour tout le monde!        This has been a crazy week! We've been super busy with lessons, we have had two or three lessons a day, and lots of really good devotionals.  On Sunday , we had Chad Lewis come and talk, and that was really cool. He talked about his mission, his career, his chance to do this hike up Kilimanjaro with a bunch of wounded soldiers from Iraq, kinda all over the place. It was more like a slide show than the kind of devotionals before. It was still good, but I definitely preferred Elder Oaks. We watched A Consecrated Missionary, by Tad Callister, for our film after, it was really good. I really love the  Sunday  films, gunna miss that in the field.         I also finally meet some other people going to Halifax! There are 4 sisters, and one other Elder, I'll be flying out with them on the 26th. I'm pretty sure I get to call you guys before I leave the airport on my flight, but I think they talk about t...

First few days!

First few days are down, and it's going good! When I got here I went straight to a lesson in French, and six hours of lessons later I'm supposed to teach a lesson in complete French to an investigator, write a talk in French, and memorize the missionary purpose statement.  Our zone has about 60 missionaries, most speaking French, going to Lyon, France, but some to Paris as well. There are a lot of Haitian Creole speaking missionaries, and some Malagasy speaking missionaries as well. Two are going to New Caledonia (discussed below). I'm the only one going to Canada, let alone going to Halifax.         My companion is Elder Hable (like table but with an H) and he's really good. He's going to New Caledonia, which is by Australia. He took French for 6 years, and he's by far the best of our district so far. He likes baseball, favorite team is the Red Sox, so that's a plus, (Raelene) and is really kind to everyone. He got made the District leader last night, s...

Another week!

Hey, So like I said, I'm in Fredericton now. It's a good sized ward for New Brunswick, but I got a reminder on Sunday how that's still quite a bit smaller than wards around the world. This woman was visiting from Alberta, and bore her testimony in fast and testimony meeting, and she started out saying how she was grateful for the "branch" and its testimonies. Most of the members are pretty cool. There's the most young families I've ever seen here. A lot of the members are very funny too! We just got a new ward mission leader, he's from the Phillipines, and he's super awesome. He's been doing a lot of work to increase the members desire and expectation to share the gospel. I really hope I can see a lot of that growth change the ward. We only have one investigator right now, Jacob, an 11 year old son of a less active, who we're working with to reactivate. He's pretty excited about it, but he didn't come to church this Sund...
