Pretty fun week...

Hey all,  Wow, sometimes I wish I just had some normal weeks. I'll get into my week later on, but it was a weird one. (I'm starting to think weird weeks are more normal than the normal weeks.) Excited for Boo's call coming soon!  Tell us more about Elder Holman...where is he from, how long has he been out, what does he like? Elder Holman is from Idaho Falls. He's just hit his year mark. He likes rock climbing, wrestling, movies, spending time with friends, the usual. He's a hard worker, which is really nice, we go out and work a lot. And yes, still zone leaders.  Do you like being a zone leader? Would it feel like a demotion if you were asked to do something else, like train, or whatever? Will you feel bad if you are never AP? In answer to the other question, I do like being a zone leader. It's a lot of fun to be able to help the district leaders train and to work with the MLC to make the mission focuses. I've learned a lot. But I don't...

Yes, everyone's been freaking out!

Hey all, This week has probably been the craziest ever. The announcement came as I was down in a lesson in Halifax (long story, I'll get to it later) and so my phone just started vibrating like crazy during the lesson, and I was super confused. I checked it and saw a ton of missed calls, so I thought something bad just happened, and we finished the lesson quickly, and started calling people back. The other Zone Leaders answered and were just like, "Have you guys checked your email?" and we were really confused, but they told us to go check. Then I read the email they sent all of us, and I was just mind-blown. The elder I was with just pulled over, cause we were driving at this point, and we just sat there talking to them. It was crazy.  Anyway, I'll back up because it's been a pretty crazy week. P-day was a huge storm, and we were stuck in the house that night. Elder Willoughby finished packing. We also found out that because of the storm, the normal t...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!

Hey all,  Happy Birthday and all that. You're pretty much the best mom ever. I love you so much.  I'm glad you liked the last email. I guess I didn't think much of it, but I guess that's where the spirit's smarter than me. That really sucks that Boo's getting his wisdom teeth pulled, I really won the teeth lottery. No cavities, no wisdom teeth, barely needed braces. Lucked out. Also, I hope the weather's good enough for you to go down (to St. George) . We're getting pounded with a storm right now, we have to push back transfers another day. (But we still need to drop Elder Willoughby off, so looks like another trip to Halifax :))  Also, that's cool you've been getting more out of your prayers! I really recommend two talks by Elder Bednar, they were back to back, April and October of 2008 I think. The second one's called Pray Always , and it's really helped me get more out of my prayers by making it more of a continuous convers...

I expected more out of you for subject lines...

Hey all, Lol, Ben had to stay in for two inches of snow?!? We literally have 2 inches of ice on top of the actual road, and then on top of that is the normal packed down snow. They don't even bother to try to break the ice, they put some salt on it but it doesn't do anything. What ends up happening is they pour this dirt and rock combination on top of all the roads to give you traction. And we've had some gorgeous weather this week!  Also, that's weak sauce mom. You can't give up on the creative subject lines. That's like telling a joke without the punchline. (JK, you don't really have to if you don't want to, but pretty much every missionary ever just does numbers, and I think they're dumb.) I jokingly put "Life, week 2,555" as my subject line. Q: You never said who was which kind of finisher when you described the three types. I'm sure that was on purpose because you don't ever say anything negative about other missio...

Temple trips and hospital visits

Hey all,  So to answer the weather question, we go out to work unless it's -40 or below. Sometimes if it's too stormy, like there are really bad whiteout conditions, where it's not safe to be outside, we also will stay in, but the cold alone doesn't stop us, haha. This year has actually been quite warm in comparison to last year. Or maybe I'm just more used to it, idk. Either way I know you'd freeze, mom, so at some point it would probably all just seem like the same temperature to you.  Thats way cool that dad's learning Hebrew. That's something I want to do too. Dad, you need to see if you can learn Hebrew as fast as Joseph Smith did—it took him 14 weeks. And way to go Boo! That's cool that you did so well in the tourney! And that's so exciting that you started your mission papers, it's weird for me to think of you already leaving and getting a senior ad. Time flies. Killing Elder Willoughby has been interesting. I've notice...

This is a long one...

Hey all, We had a pretty busy week. Tuesday night we picked up a new investigator, Howie. He's a dad to like 4 kids, and he's super kind. His kids are kinda interested too. We taught him about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon, and read some with him, we're hoping that it goes well! We had exchanges with Saint John elders this week after District council, but instead of the normal way we've done it in the CHM, we did a traditional exchange, where Elder Willoughby went to Saint John with the District Leader's companion, Elder Cahoon, while I went with Elder Doucette. It was a really good exchange, albeit a little weird. We got a snow storm that Wednesday night, so driving out to Jeff's and back took really long. It was an interesting lesson with Jeff too, cause he kinda just talked about how he doesn't really think coming to church is possible before their baby is born, which kinda stinks, but he's more committed to getting married, and says ...

Sometimes I wish I just did the week I was on for my mission so I wouldn't feel obligated to come up with a subject for these emails.

Hey all, Wow, sounds like a busy week! Honestly, it's probably way cooler to be working in the GA travel division, because the missionary travel department is just going to be booking the same flights every 3-9 weeks, depending on when the missionaries leave the MTC. Do you get special parking downtown because of the job? Or do you just use the Conference Center's parking?  This week has been lots of work! We taught Jeff Wednesday night, and it was so good. We skyped in Nate Hoole, (He's from Olympus, he and Jeff were really close) and it helped a ton, Jeff opened up a lot to us and we were able to help him realize that if he gets married, and stays married, he doesn't need to worry about divorce. (That seemed pretty straightforward to me, but I guess its precept by precept, and he didn't connect the dots.) We talked about how if he's focusing on a divorce going into his marriage, it's going to be much more likely than when he focuses on the temple, ...
